Materials needed:
We set up two bottle experiments. One contained our buffer and the other contained a constant. This was done so that we could compare which plant grew the tallest in which container. |
Step OneWe gathered two 2 liter soda pop bottles and cut them in half. We then labeled each of them with our names and class period number.

Step TwoUsing scissors, we cut a small hole in the cap of each bottle. We then stuck one strip of felt through each cap and secured the cap.

Step ThreeAfter the strip of felt and cap was secured, we filled the top half of each bottle with gravel. In one of the other bottom halves of the bottle, we filled with 1/2 liter of our nutrient solution. In the second bottle, we filled with our buffer solution (refer to buffer page for for more information).
